I was reflecting on 1 Corinthians 13: 1-3: “If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, BUT do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, BUT do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, BUT do not have love, I gain nothing.”
The passage here contains one of the most important biblical truths: we can have prophetic revelations but if we do not know how to deliver this in LOVE, we are only NOISE! We can have amazing faith, but without love, we are NOTHING! We may be generous with all our possessions but without love, all that service means nothing.
God wants us to use our gifting to minister to those around us with love (=with patience and kindness, rejoicing in the truth/ without boasting, pride, envy, self-seeking attitude, being vengeful, being easily angered/ ALWAYS being hopeful, trusting, persevering and protecting).
Lord I ask for You to flood our hearts with Your love so we may edify others with our gifting with Christ-like love for Your Glory. In Jesus’ Name, amen.
